Default 96 brake \ clutch switch assy question

Hello all,
I'm still working on the auto - manual conversion for my 90 'vette. The pedals I bought were from a 96 'vette and are slightly different requiring me to change out the brackets. Along with the brackets came new switches for the clutch and brake and I noticed that they were in a different order than the ones on mine; not sure if it is correct or just assembled quickly by the guy I bought them from. On my factory bracket there are two switches; one of which has a tube for the cruise control. On the new bracket the switch that has the cruise control is over the clutch pedal (which I can rationalize) and there is another switch where that one was that has a different connector. Can someone validate this order and should I place a T-connector to jump the cruise control to both switches (there is a port of the same size on that one; I can see why it would need it).

New Bracket

Old Bracket

Thanks in advance!

It doesn't matter where the switches are on the brake pedal. You can reuse your 2 old brake switches from the 90. That way you have the right connecters for the car. You will need to use the clutch switch off the 96 and its connector and wires.

The cruise control requires that both the brake and clutch complete the circuit in order for the cruise to work. There are two ways this happens. A 12 volt circuit must be completed and the vacuum most be closed. When you push in the clutch or brake it will turn off the cruise control by releasing vacuum and opening the circuit.

I'm not sure of the colors of wires on your car but on my 93 it was pink and purple. You must splice into these wires on your brake harness with your 96 clutch connector wires so that the switches work in series to close the circuit. Same thing with the vacuum line. It needs to be t'd off so you have a vacuum hose for the clutch switch.

Keep the 96 brake switches as spares. Look in the factory service manual at the cruise control wiring diagram and it will all make sense.

BTW: You will love the 6 speed. I put in 4.10 gears with mine and its a blast to drive. Go ahead and put in the hurst short throw shifter while you have the tranny out and you won't be dissappointed. That factory shifter is a POS.

90 6 speed brake pedal, the clutch pedal has no switches except the neutral start switch.

The switch in your picture is for your cruise control. The clutch start safety switch is located at the hinge on the clutch pedal.

You guys are awesome, thats just what I needed to see. They must've switched switch types between the 90 and the 96. Notice how on the picture of the '90 there are two switches of the same type (the ones on the outside ends of the brackets). The 96 must've changed the connector to avoid confusion when re-connecting the wires. Now I just need to find one of those connectors somewhere...

@93VettePilot

I've wanted this car to be a 6-speed ever since I bought it. I swapped out the factory 2:59's () with a set of 3:54's in a hardened pumpkin () a few years back. Glad I did, I couldn't imagine a ZF6 with 2:59's. The transmission is already in so I suppose its too late to install that short shifter huh?
