I am new to the corvette. I have a 1995 LT1 doing my first oil change this weekend. What type of oil and filter do you recommend. I only drive it on the weekends.
Hi and welcome.
I do not know if the LT1 uses a different oil as the L98 engine does but if it is the same it would be 5w30.
Check the viscosity in your owners manual if you have one to be sure.
I would only use a fully synthetic oil: I never had a leak and I ever used full synth.
I use Mobil 1.
Mobil 1 is the factory fill I remember right.
And get a GOOD oil filter. Not the cheap FRAM filters. They are very cheaply made and I heard cases of the inside filter media falling apart. The filter is as important as the oil is.
I use WIX filters, others may recommend other brands....
Whatever brand of filter you get, make sure you have the right tool to put it on/take it off. I had the cap style tool that fit an AC Delco filter, but a few months later when I put a Mobil 1 filter on, I needed a different size cap tool. I also like using that style tool because most LT1 filters don't stick out below the oil pan.

I have never seen a filter you couldn't get off with one of these.
It's the only filter "tool" you'll need.
