Harmonic Balancer driftin' away
I was going to check the timing today and was hearing a noise thai I had never heard before from the front of the engine. I discovered the outer ring of the balancer had drifted back toward the timing chain cover. So I guess I will have to check the timing another time. What is involved in replacing one of those besides skinned knuckles and making sure no small kids ans ladies are around to hear the cussin? I have never seen this happen before. The engine is pretty much stock (chip, exhaust, K&N, Coil). Any recommendations on a replacement? :U

You will need a puller. If the puller bolt is just the right size, it will go just past the loop in the power steering line and nothing else will need to be removed. To replace it you should buy a 7/16"x3" grade 8 bolt and some large washers to draw the balancer back on. Not hard to do, just very slow. I bought a balancer at Napa for <$50.

This is the same thing that happen to mine last week. But mine almost wore a hole though the timing cover. I had my engine out of the car before i noticed.
