on my 1992 Corvette.. at end of last winter, the wipers stoped working. I came in after a rain... turned the car off... (Left the wipers on), came out the next morning, started the car, the wipers had ice all over them and were frozen to the windshield... tried to work, then stopped (still frozen).
A few months later, (spring), they still will not work...
I checked the fuse - OK...checked all the circuit breakers - all OK. I checked the electrical plugs at the wiper motor... no 12 VDC...
I have read about fusable links... does the wiper circuit have a fusable link.... and if so, where is it located?
I have not yet checked the switch... but since the wipers were frozen and under a load at the time they quit working, I seem to think the problem would be in a power safety circuit...
I was surprised to find the fuse not blown...
any help?
If you have power at the fuse, and nothing any pin at the wiper motor module, in any switch position, the next place to check is the wiper/washer switch connector at the steering column.
Does your washer pump run? If so, you are probably getting power to the switch assy.
The part below may be your problem.. I would check the wires at the motor control cover to see if you have power that far, if you do its probably this part below, if you don't then it may be the switch....WW
I used a 12 VDC light tester, removed the two connectors (front & side) on the wiper motor, no power on any of the pins. Also, the washer pump will not run... so, I guess the problem must be in the switch. So that's where I will start checking next.
