Default EGR Passages

Hey guys...for the first time my '92 threw a code....32. (EGR failure) I'm going to replace the EGR valve and its solinoid cause it's 10 yrs old. The bible calls for cleaning out the passages too. The dlr uses a product they get from the vendors but it's not available to the general public. What do you suggest I use to clean them out? Also, the code happened after driving about 30 miles .....just after adding their GM fuel additive to clean out injectors @$35. a pint. coincidence????? GM says "yes". but I wonder.
Thanks for the help. :mad

It's pretty hard to clean the EGR passages (on an L98 anyway). I'd simply check for any loose debris and try wiping around the EGR seat.

The passages on my '87 base are carboned but not too heavily; not much came off after I had it hot spray cleaned.

Good idea...any suggestions for the type of product to do the cleaning? I don't want to put something in the system that will cause a failure of something else downstream..????
