I have a stock 95 LT1 with a automatic transmission. After bringing the car out of storage for the winter, I notice a loud rattle from under the car, but it quickly went away as the car came up to operating temperature. The next day I put the car up on blocks and started it cold. The rattle is between the oil pan and transmission pan which I'm guessing is the bell housing cover. After a short time of the car coming up to operating temperature the rattle was gone. I then waited till the next day to take the car out for drive to see what would happen. Again under moderate acceleration the rattle was there and again it went away after the car warmed up. Things I have done so far
[*]changed the tranmission fluid and filter
[*]checked codes and nothing came up wrong
The car shifts perfectly with or without the rattle. While driving there are no signs of anything being wrong. Again it only makes noise at cold start-up. Before I spend way to much money taking it to a mechanic, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance for you help!
Remove the starter and bellhousing cover to inspect, verify the torque converter bolts are tight. Make sure you disconnect the negative battery cable before starting the job to avoid disaster.

Check that first , if they are tight , i strongly believe your torque converter
is going south , Upgrade time !!!

Toptechx6, I feel a little silly after removing the starter, the bolts that hold on the bell housing cover were loose, and were hidden by the starter, so at first glance I couldn't see them, but without your suggestion I would have become more frustrated. Thanks again for the direction.

Delighted to hear it was something that simple and that I was able point you in the right direction.
