Take a flat head screwdriver and pry the poopie pattern off, then take a set of pliers or channel locks and pull the metal T pin out. Then the **** just screws off.

The T pin could just slide out, or it may be wedged in there pretty secure. I've come across both.

I've put a Hurst shifter in my '94, and that T-pin can be a real pain. Be careful when pulling it out with the pliers - it can break easily. I learned the hard way....Good luck!

Before you go to any trouble, after you pry out the plastic shift pattern button, just get a small pair of vise grips and clamp on to the wedge. Then take a hammer and gently tap in an upward direction until the wedge comes out.

If you just clamp on and start wiggling and twisting, you are just asking for a fist or vise grips in your face or through your roof.

Do it right the first time, your face and/or roof will thank me later.

After the wedge is out, the **** will twist off.

I sprayed some WD40 around the t-pin and let it sit for awhile before I started tugging and after some wiggling it came right out.
