Default Chicago Area Trans Flush_Exchange

Hi,
Any shop recommendations in the Chicago area on getting my 92 LT1 coupe's tranny flushed/exchanged?
Don't have time to do it myself!
Thanks,

Last time I went to the dealer they wanted close to $2000 to replace my distributor...Ouch.
Anyone closer than Wisconsin like to jump in?

Thanks,

What part of Chicago. I have a friend since high school with an Auto Parts store in Cicero that I am sure could refer you to someone reputable. But, I would imagine it would be someone in the general area of Cicero/Berwyn/Oak Park/Etc. PM me if you want his info to contact.

Most, if not all, of the oil change shops and most of the major tire dealers have an automatic transmission fluid change service. I just did a Google search and Jiffy Lube offers the service.

Call around and see. Not sure who you talked to but this is a pretty standard things so I would think you should not have too many issues getting a quote.

I don't know but it seems to me those Jiffy Lube techs are lower quality than the Dealership techs.

Hey c4sailor,
Appreciate getting back to me.
I grew up on the near west side of Chicago and lived a number of times in Cicero too. So I know the area well.
What is the name of your friend and his auto parts store. I might know him.
Anyway working in the Aurora area and thought I would here/recommendations from other C4 owners have had with a trans flush/exchange.
I have some concerns about major oil change places like jiffy Lube. They seem to be cutting corners like using recycled anti-freeze. Wouldn’t want to use recycled trans fluid in my transmission.
Send me your friends email/phone or he can contact me at:
See Pm
Thanks,
Ted

I wasn't recommending Jiffy Lube! I was just giving an example of how many places have the machines to change-out the fluid. Most auto repair shops have the machines to change the fluid with minimal time involved and they can install new, not recycled, fluid with the machine. The Nissan dealership where I bought our Altima and Frontier changed the fluid in the Altima in a short period of time but it wasn't cheap. Cost about $125, but the car has a CVT transmission and the fluid is more expensive than the traditional automatic. I don't want to think what it would cost to replace the CVT transmission if I didn't take care of it!

We have a great shop in town that does general auto repairs and quick oil changes. Their techs are SAE certified and the floor in the shop is so clean you could eat off of it.

Thank you for the reccomendation, I do actually own a trans flush machine, and can do both a pan off and or a flush.

Rick,
No problem and I have a new friend(s)!!!
My car is running great after the trans flush and diffy fluid change!!!
I highly recommend your pre-service consultation and work to others in need of a highly qualified tech.
Had a great time getting together with the others for dinner over gear-head talk lasting over 4 hours but that happens when Vette owners get together.
Looking forward to our next monthly dinner.
Best Regards,
Ted
