I'm down to the last bits and pieces in the engine buildup and go to attach the water pump inlet hose to the radiator...only there's a frame rail in the way, and the hose is about 1/2 inch too short.
I look at the stock hose, and sure enough, it's got a 90 degree kink in it to clear the frame member, but it's too small in diameter to hook up to the larger waterpump.
So, anybody know anybody that I can go to to build a hose that looks like the stock one, but is marginally larger in diameter?
Is it just the two ends? No extra tap for the oil cooler or anything?
Your local parts store should have a large selection of those universal accordian hoses with different size ends and different lengths...It might take two or three tries to get one to reach without kinking, but it's easier than making a stepped spliced metal tube with two different size hoses...
Yeah, I've seen the accordian stuff (if it's the kind I'm thinking) It looks a little hokey (ESPECIALLY on the motor I'm building) but it might be the best solution.
I found one hose that looked like it _might_ have worked, but it required a 60-90 degree twist that would have made it collapse :cuss
The autozone suggested splicing the two hoses together with muffler pipe and hoseclamps. That's not a solution either!
