Hello everybody. I have an 87 vette with 67k on it. I love the car to death but I am dying to put a manual transmission in it. However, I am not really a fan of the 4+3 tranny. My question is will the 6 speed that was introduced in '89 fit my '87? If so, what years would work?

ZF 6- speed will fit into your 87 with appropriate patrs on hand.
I am an old school musclecar guy & dragracer.
I was always a 4-speed stick guy for 20 some years.
I bought my 87 auto Vert & have no regrets.
I rebuilt & blueprinted my 700R4 trans myself.
Only Ronnie Sox- Mr. 4-speed of Race Hemi 426 Chrysler fame could outshift my Vette Auto trans every time.
Ronnie Sox left us all a few years back/ passed on.
I shift a Muncie M22 Rockcrusher 4-speed 99% faster than anyone yet today in my 70-1/2 TA.
But my 700R4 Auto trans is 100 % percent consistent every time.
Win many street races that way too.
Consistent shifts.
Not to discredit you, but can anyone else verify that the 89-96 6 speed trans will fit my '87? Will I need additional parts to make it fit? Because I asked a couple other people and they said they did not believe so.
A Zf6 will work, due some research on here there are two different kinds of Zf6's. There are a ton of threads on this.
Your best bet would be to find a 6 speed with a blown motor or wrecked car and go from there. You will need the pedals, Hydraulics, a clutch (I would go with a new clutch) among other things.
