96 Transmission intermitent shifting issues
When I first go to drive on any given day, the transmission seems to be stuck in 3rd, and won't go into overdrive, or any other gear, so it seems. Kick-down does nothing. However, after driving 10 minutes or so, if I stop, shut off the engine, and then restart the engine, it will then shift through all gears, just as it should. It is very repeatable. If I drive it to work, it will not shift all the way there, but when I come out a couple hours later to go somewhere in town, it shifts fine. When it is not shifting, manual shifting with the shift lever, does not help. Likewise, when it is working properly, manual shifting with the lever works as it should also. Any thoughts on what would cause this?
