Dash Pad difference ?
The vendors list an 84-85 & 86-89 dash p[ad.
Any body know what the difference is?
I cracked mine while taking it out for @ the 20th time.

87 has speaker grills and cut outs...
I think part of the difference was also in the mounting clips...as the ECM moved underhood, the things stuffed under the pad moved, so the clips did too. The edge and wrap around is different for later yrs that had analog gauges with the dome or rounded top over the instruments. The digital dash had the flat top & straight edge.

Same with 89. Need cutting out if you want to use the grill plates. Obviously not part of the dash though.

I guess I'll need an 84-85 pad,, found 2-3 of them in good shape, just waiting on pics.

They also changed the angle of the display some at some point in the early runs which might have affected the clip mouting points.

I actually bought an 84 dash pad from the wrecking yard to replace my cracked one in my 89. It clipped in and was able to put in the screws by the defrost vent. But all the screw holes that go along the front of the dash don't line up. It's like I need to push the pad in more but can't get it in any farther.
