I'm curious if there are others with the BPP Vortex that are having quality control problems like I am. I have had my Vortex installed for 15 months now and just took my car in to Chris Petris at the Corvette Clinic to have an oil leak fixed. When Chris removed my air duct, the Vortex duct assembly piece was cracked in about 4 places (I'm referring to the piece that has a sticker of their logo on it). As you know, this piece is about as cheap as it gets. It is a molded piece made out of very thin plastic. I was thinking of calling Ernie and asking them to replace it but more likely than not, it would be the very same unit. Has anyone else had a problem with this? You really wouldn't know unless you removed the clamp from the duct assembly. If so, what did you do to fix it?
Edit: I just got off the phone with Breathless and they are sending me out the new upgraded Powerduct for free! It's nice to see there are vendors out there who still take care of their customers...

Thanks, Mojo! That's exactly it...

Yep, I have the same problem (and one more) :(. I've had my BPP Vortex for the same amount of time that you have and I emailed Ernie to see if he would do the same for me. Stay tuned for the response...
I would just give them a call if I were you. I never spoke with Ernie personally. I think it was one of the girls that handle orders over the phone. She said she would get a new one in the mail asap...

PS. Mackey, I see you still have a love affair with Breathless. :D
Mine was partially collapsed at the connection to the stock rubber flex duct at the large SS hose clamp over the radiator shroud.
Of note, this let unfiltered air into my brand new reworked 383 for God knows how long :mad
They sent me a repair kit which consisted of a fiberglass reinforcement that fits over the plastic duct end. They include a microscopic tube of superglue gel to attach it with (don't use it!).
You have to heat and straighten the collapsed duct area first...I used a heat gun very carefully to accomplish this. I then used polyester marine resin to glue the reinforcement to the plastic duct (you have to literally seal it to the plastic so you don't get any more air leaks). I clamped the assembly all around with about 10 small hobby clamps until the resin was cured. I then sanded off the excess resin and that was it, looks good as new.
Sheesh! Do you have any pictures? Same situation here, btw. I installed this at the same time all the other work was done, so it's hard to say if it did any damage...
Ive got a problem w/ mine, but a different problem. Mine is rubbing against the hood and I have not been able to rig somthing up to keep it down. Any of you guys have this problem?

Yep. Rubbed two white spots into my hood. :(
I got the "fix" and had to do the same as posted above as well. I sent the whole thing back for a refund.
