I wanted to know what you guys have replaced your brakes with, any particular brands, etc.
I took my car to the dealer and they wanted $525+ tax for 2 front rotors and pads. I think they were trying to give it to me since they are the only Chevy dealer around here in Bum (you know) Egypt!
I am going to do it myself now! Any special pads I should think of?
I may upgrade rotors, keep stock calipers though. I guess I really wanted to know best pads for the money? As well as rotors. It isn't my daily driver and the racing it sees is on the dragstrip.
BUY THE FRONT OEM PADS FROM; THE LAST DETAIL IN ATLANTA FOR LESS THAN 150.00. IF YOU NEED ROTORS TURNED TAKE THEM TO A NAPA STORE 10 TO 12 DOLLARS EACH. JOB SHOULD NOT TAKE MORE THAN 1/2 HOUR PER WHEEL. REARS ARE LESS EXPENSIVE. GO TO http://WWW.TLD-CORVETTE.COM. GOOD LUCK
Other good pads that people here have installed are Performance Friction Z-Rated (available at Auto Zone) and Hawk pads. If you really want to spend some $$, upgrade your front brakes to 13" HD brakes ala Grand Sport. Probably run you about $550 from Jeff Kopp at Superior Chevy (18carfan here on the Forum).
