86 Corvette and tape player spits it out right away, thought I could clean heads but that didn't work. Car has only 31,000 miles.. but in reading posts there seems to be problem with these delco Bose units.
Hoping a trick is out there... I want to keep it original else I would def upgrade to something new.
Thanks..

Does the tape work in other players? Have you tried other tapes or just one? Sometimes tapes will stick when they sit for long periods. The Bose unit will spit them out instead of chewing up the tape.
If you don't have another player then wind the tape by hand with a pencil through the gears. Do it all the way. Then try it in the player. If it still doesn't work then there could be an internal problem.
The fact that I know this shows that I grew up in the 80's.

Are there instructions on removing the radio, it spits out all tapes, but most important even the IPOD tape connector. Funny you can have any crap cassette player and they work. This so called state of the art for its day Delco Bose goes bad for no reason. Makes no sense the car just sits most of the time. What is it that goes bad that they fix when you send it out? and if you send it out do you get the same unit back or another rebuilt unit of someone else's problems?
Thanks for all the help I can get on this. Please let me know if you had this problem and how you went about to fix it. I'm getting fed up with the little things I ignored for years because I rarely drive the car. I just fixed a annoying bad window switch, which I had to juggle for 5 years to make it work. I only did this because it almost didn't go up last month. It cost me 15 dollars and worked out OK thanks to some help here. Next is this tape player so I don't just listen to the radio but can hook up the ipod. Thinking out loud, in the day they raved about this delco Bose, crap radios in all the other GM cars are still working, seems they should have been a recall on these. My car has only 31000 miles which should be within 3 yrs of use. How does a tape player go bad like this, I have no idea.
Thank you in advance for your help. If sent out who would you recommend, I hear about someone in Texas? Is there anyone in NJ?
Thanks
