Hey guys I need some help with a TV cable on a 92 vette. I’m having shifting problems with my car. The transmission won’t shift out of first. I have been reading a lot about adjusting the TV cable to fix this as it is the information system for the transmission. I read a great article that explains how the TV cable works and how it is set up. This was a generic article that showed pictures of the "re set" process on a different motor. I went to check the TV cable on my vette to see if that was the issue and from what I found I believe it is. When the throttle linkage on the driver side is put to wide open throttle the TV cable does not move. The black slider is set to keep the cable tight when the throttle is idle. I feel as though this is backwards but I’m not sure if I am looking at the correct linkage. It is on the driver side and runs from the throttle linkage into the ASR box. Is this the proper linkage? If anyone could take a picture of the TV cable and how to properly set it that would be amazing. Thank you for the help!
92 and 93 are different from all other years as they are the only Corvettes with ASR and a TV cable. See post #3 in this link to follow the adjustment procedure in the 93 service manual.
Yikes! Should I try to do this or should I bring it to a Transmission shop and have them not be able to figure it out.
If you know nothng about it how could the shop know less? They are not all idiots and have seen at least 1 more TV cable than you have. Kind of reminds me of a couple engineering Phds that bought a small machine shop. I was called to consult on some projects and they thought the cad/cam software would solve everything as far as tool bit rake helix material coatings coolant type and system etc. it was all very blue collar to them so any moron could do it. The trans guys might be wearing coveralls but that certainly does not make them clueless compared to someone that has never done any of it. It is a pervasive attitude that anyone that works with their hands is incompetent..sigh..
