Which is better ??? Haynes or Chilton. I'm having problems with no power to fuel pump relay (yes i checked the fuse) and the Haynes isn't giving me what i need. Would Chilton be better??? I have a thread under NO FUEL

pg 4-3 of Haynes tells you how to use the ALDL plug to check the fuel pump. maybe you have done that. its easy to do. also, be SURE that fuse, #24 or so, is good, a 10A, and check the fuse terminals with fuse removed for current with simple light or ohm meter.
I've overlooked a blown fuse because it blew at the base of the loop.
jc
forgot: jump terminal A to G with short jumper, paper clip, etc. turn keyt ON, no start, and teh ecm will disply codes. if you don't know how to do that I can lead you through. or apply voltage 12v to termonal G as the book says.

My book says to check fuse FP there is no FP but the 10amp. fuse on the bottom right is good but checked for voltage at fuse terminals at that fuse and no power. This all started out when i took the battery out to clean the bat. compartment. Could i have disturbed snything in there? Looks like a bunch of fuseable links. Didn't use any water just wiped things down with a rag and blew crap out

"after this, because of this." not always true. key was on when you check fuse terminals for 12 v?
I did the same thing once and no problems.
your user manual lists the fuse and what they control, whether it says FP above the termianl or below, the number should be the important thing. with key on , the fp should be in circuit for 2 secs, then off until it starts.
Note: the fuse term will not show 12v with key turned on because ECM shuts the circuit off after 2 secs, until engine starts, from memory; my apologies for not-thinking. I guess the relay, too, correct? also, on my 91 there is another auxiliary fuse box.
