Default TB Bottom Plate

I am trying to service my throttle body but the screws that holds the bottom plate where the coolant/idle air control mounts are stuck big time. Any secrets to getting them out without breaking them off? All I have around the house is some WD40. I know Kroil is the best but I need something basically right now. PB Blaster a good alternative? Will some light heat warp or otherwise damage the throttle body? Maybe soak the whole bottom end in gas?

Help!!

I had the same issue. What I did was soak it with WD-40 and lightly tap it with a hammer around the screws to help the WD-40 penetrate. I did this a few times and eventually got the screws to begin to move. When they do, be patient in getting them out. As soon as they start to move, keep working them and spraying. I did have the head break on one screw, but when I finally got the rest of them out and the cover was off, I was able to really give it a good soaking and finally get it out with vice grips. Didn't try heat; soaking in gas sounds like it might work. If it doesn't work out, PM me; I have a good one (minus the bottom plate) with a very nice black wrinkle painted top plate I would sell for $45 shipped. I can send a pic, if you have an interest.

Thanks Jes, I got the plate off and only broke 3 screws. After soaking and tapping for 12 hours I finally ran out of time and just twisted them out. Luckily only the head broke off so I was able to get the rest out after the PB Blast actually got to threads. I also was doing GREGGPENN's coolant passage elimination to get rid of the bungs and extra junk under the TB so the loss of screws wasnt an issue either. Good news is its back on the car clean as a whistle and looking a lot better than before. All I hafta do is set the TPS and I am good to go. Speaking of which I am off to do just that.
