My '94 tended to bog when accelerating uphill when the engine was hot. I pulled the EGR valve which was crudded almost solid, cleaned it out and the problem was gone. Can't say if that was the cause or not, maybe just coincidence. I also put in a manual fan switch to keep temps down, so that may have been a factor, too.
Anyway, it's good now. Best of luck.
It would be a good idea to check this. Since it is a cold motor issue, the EGR is a possible suspect. It was designed for cold motor operation.
Just FYI, it pulls exhaust gas into the intake manifold and helps ionize the fuel/air mixture.
I'd also pull the MAF sensor and spray it with some MAF cleaner, my 94 had a low rpm hesitation/off idle stumble and it turned out to be the MAF. Cleaning mine didn't help I had to replace it but it cured my problem, a can of MAF cleaner is cheap and worth a shot and with 100k+ miles probably should be done anyway
My problem was intermittent but occurred 90% of the time while the motor was cold also

Thanks for the replies. I need to check all the possible causes mentioned. Now the I got my Olds 455 finished, and can move the 442, I can put the vette in the garage and check it out.
This is a vid of the Olds running for anyone interested. My vette is in the video also.

Now that I think of it, I cleaned the MAF and throttle body at the same time I decrudded the EGR valve (described above). So maybe that was what did the trick.
I have heard that running a K&N oiled air filter will increase the rate of MAF problems as oil mist collects on the wire and attracts crud.
