Sara Lou, I think you're counting cylinders like a Ford engine. GM has odd #s on driver side, even #s on passenger side. Three sending units, guage between 1/3, aux fan between 6/8, ECM in front of engine near thermostat housing if my memory serves me right.

probly a typo, 1&3, almost thought I was on a ford site........momentarily, CRS ya know.

On later TPI cars it is between # 6 and 8 with the Aux fan switch ( if fitted ) between # 1 and 3.
