Default SPARK PLUGS FOR LT-1

I'm running the a/c platinum plugs right now, And i had an O/2 sensor go bad so i replaced the sensors and it took care of my problem. But my fuel mileage and idle still are not right. Figuring the plugs are probably fouled from the sensor problem. just wondering what what everybody thinks of the platinum plugs or what is suggested. :smash: :chevy

Most of us are using non platinum plugs for better performance. A lot of guys use NGK. I have Champion Gold which are pretty good. AC Delco rapid fires are pretty good also.

The stock Platinums have puck that falls off after a while and can leave scratches in the cylinders so most people avoid them.

Some guys are running Bosch plats and +4 plats. Its seems to be hit and miss with them. I had strange off idle surge with the +4s and regular Bosch plats on my stock LT1. I thought it was the opti but the problem remained after the opti was replaced. I tried +4s on my 383 but I didn't like the way they performed.

I have had some good luck with autolite platinums. They are cheap too. I tried some as cut back plugs and they worked well but I cut them too far back and they started to miss.

Go with NGK TR5, gap at .050" for an LT1. They are great plugs. http://www.speeddemon.com has them for good prices.

Plain old AC Delco, Delco RapidFire, NGK, Autolite, are all fine plugs. As has been said, the Bosch seems to be a hit and miss. With me it was MISS.

Personally I use the NGK plugs. They look good and are fairly cheap.

I haven't noticed any difference between the NGK TR55's and the Bosch Platinum's. I have run both recently, and they are the same to me.

Well, I have a fairly new set of AC 41-906 stock factory type plugs in now, and they seem to perform quite well. But I'll probably pull them in favor of a set of AC Rapidfires next year or sooner, IF I can ever get a comfortable feeling about what the proper heat range would be for my regular street driven LT1. Heat range selection seems to be the big point of confusion with the Rapidfires.

One thing's for sure, I've messed with plugs FAR too much the past two months and I'm done with it for a WHILE. :yesnod:
