Default 84 steering column help! unidentifyable part

Hey guys.... I'm stumped! I took apart my steering column this evening to find the source of my loose wheel condition. As it turns out, it was the annoying 4 bolts that GM never thread-locked! OK, I got it all apart, torqued the bolts, and got it about 2/3 of the way back together.... and found this clip laying on the carpet under the steering column..... I can't find a parts breakdown of an 84' steering column andywhere on the web.... anyone have one? More so... has anyone taken their steering column apart to accomplish this fix? I found one really nice posting with detailed pictures.... but I dont see the clip anywhere... I'd really like to find a breakdown of the column though so I can see if this clip belongs in there or if maybe it came off of the turn signal mechanism. As a note to others considering this task, it's not hard to do, it took me about 45 minutes to get to the point where I found the clip.... I would have been done in an hour had it not been for this clip.

The plastic piece, I'm going to look up the GM part number, it's probably obsolete, but I need to find out what it's called and what it's for. I had pieces of it floating around in the column..... it was pretty much shot... any help is appreciated!

Thanks Brad
