Default Lower temp coolant switch install

I bought the lower coolant switch and harness from MAD and they say to install it in the plugged hole in the left head near the front. The only thing they forgot was the blow torch you must need to get that plug out.!! My question is why can't I use the new switch they sent me in the original position the factory one is in now?? If the new switch just has more "impedence"?? if thats the right word? to turn the fans on earlier why cant I replace the stock one with the new one and get the same result???

You don't have one now, unless your car has two fans, one in front and one behind the radiator. The primary fan is controlled by the ECM, the secondary fan (in front of radiator) is controlled byt a switch in the head.

So unless you have both fans, then you do not have the switch there already. If you do have both fans, then yes, you can replace the current switch.

If I recall correctly, the harness to go with the switch you bought is to tie the new switch into the primary fan, to cause it to be switch controlled instead of ECM controlled.

I tried to get mine out too, no way that thing is in there. I decided to have my chip reprogrammed instead, which is
probably a better solution anyway. Good luck.

To get OEM sensors out of my intake I had success with soaking the threads in Liquid Wrench, putting a breaker bar on the socket and rapping the end sharply several times with a light hammer. The shocks tend to loosen corrosion & sealant to allow the LR to do it's job.

Worst case a good shop shouldn't charge much to loosen it for you.

Or...you might pick up a used HYperTech Stage II chip on e-bay for $50 like I did.

Weelllll after almost a fullday of fussin with this thing...and NO the plug would not come out of the head.. I installed a hardwired switch to both fans. Wasn't my first choice but will have to do for now. I can understand why guys do buy chips just for the fan relay..Anyway the switch works wonders and atleast it will run nice and cool in the stop and go. Thanks for all the responses. :hat
