New to this forum. Here is what I have. I have an 86 Vette, my son likes it, so as a gift for him returning from his tour in Afghanistan I bought him an 85. Heres the problem. After I got it back from the paint shop, He took it down the road, got back and said he lost 1st and 2nd. Shifter feels like its disconnected. Checked linkage to tranny. All ok. Anyone have an idea where to go from here? thanks, Ken

Is this an auto or the 4+3 4 speed?
That 4+3 has external shift linkage it coule have come off and thats what I think it is.
It is held on with a cotter pin climb under and take a look.
