Default Pick 'n Pull

Hi,

I am about to replace my master cylinder and A/C compressor on my '86. Does anyone have any experience/insight on pulling these parts off an old Blazer or Oldsmobile at a pick 'n pull and installing them in a corvette?

Thanks,
Craig

90% of a Corvette is made of parts for "corvette only" so the chances of finding major pieces on another model car are slim to none. That is why Corvette parts for 25 yr old cars still cost as much today as they did back then. They don;t fit anything else.
To cross reference some of these parts you can visit many auto parts stores online stores and when you search the parts it often list the applications and other vehicles. Compressors, ign modules, generic stuff.

Brakes may not be as easy since the C4 brake system came from PBR....an Aussie company that generally supplies for performance brake systems in American made cars and not the usual passenger cars we see. A rebuild kit for the MC is pretty cheap. Its got to come off and apart either way... and a used one needs to be rebuilt. All it takes a 2 grains of sand to destroy a MC internal seal and you;re right back where you started. These boosters are a PITA to change too...the MC is not so terrible.
Why not just buy this stuff from a vette salvager so you get the right stuff ?I know of several that have their "nice" parts on the shelf and the other less fragile stuff in the yard. E-Bay is the salvage yard of today...and they ship anywhere.
The a/c compressor is a common model.
If you grab a compressor, find one thats still sealed or was until recently. A system thats been open to atmosphere will have moisture inside the compressor that has started corrosion as water and some gases turn acidic. Dirt or contamination is the #1 killer of a/c compressors.

Thanks for the information! I will just get my parts at a corvette wrecking yard so I dont waste my money getting the wrong stuff.
