corvette won't start
Not getting fuel does the same thing. Do you know that its not firing or is that just a guess? Had a spark tester inline yet? do that and get back...also do a noid lite and fuel pressure test.
what year vette, IF it's a vette?
the 91 GM oprs manual supplement says to lube the lock "lightly" with 32w synthetic engine oil. I have put wd40 on the key, then use the key in the lock. not part of this problem, tho'.

after dark, stick a nail or whatever metal you have in a spark plug wire cap and get it within 1/4" of the intake or something to ground and crank for 3-4 seconds...you should see a bright blue arc at least 1 time every 2 secs...if not, wait for sunrise and enter the dist. Problem is in there. Look for rotor turning, and again, pinched wires. Also, remove the cover and check the 3 wires in top that go to the 3 clip and the 2 clip below. HEI fire under water...
They're hot and fire up to 40,000 V at lower speeds. So its either broken or shorted.
Fuel. Key On with silence...do you hear the pump run for 2 seconds? yes? go to the shrader valve and press in to see if there is substancial pressure. It will spray with 3 psi...you are looking for a bath... if no, go to the pump relay then the filter. It should run the pump without a relay but it takes more cranking time to build oil pressure to trip a backup switch.
Go to each inj plug and wiggle it and press onto the inj. make sure all inj wires are not laying on anything or twisted around each other. A single short can kill the whole mess.
85...after spark is confirmed, its almost a sure thing for filter or pump.
BTW as mentioned condensors are not critical parts of the HEI. They serve as a filter mostly. Not to be confused with a capacitor which is a part of an HEI system. Thats used to discharge high voltage rapidly.
