You need to find the fuel enable wire to suit your car and join the output wire to it after you have cut said wire to isolate it from the CCM.
Prob best to locate the wire coming out of CCM under dash and do work there so connections are not in the engine bay

I have a Haynes manual but it doesn't cover enough to try and wire this thing in. I found the manufactors site lacking also.
Is there a good schematic on line?

I sent the seller an email but I'm not holding my breath.
Cost for the unit was $20.00 delivered.
That was $150.00 less than a simular unit from another seller.
I haven't driven my 1990 in 3 weeks, it would sure be nice to take a road trip in it.

If your going to work on your Corvette, you really must have the factory service manual.
Factory service manuals are year specific, and will cover everything for your car.

Sometimes you can find them on the big auction site, or even in the for sale section here on the forum.
Anything you find on "CD" will be a bootleg (illegal) copy, and probably missing quite a bit of important information.

Link to the factory service manual for your 1990.

See the note at the bottom:
Also included with your purchase, and included in the above price.
(1) ST36490SB - 1990 Corvette Service Manual Supplement
(2) ST36490EDM - 1990 Corvette Electrical Diagnosis Service Manual Supplement

I haven't worked on a 90 Vette in many years; however, I've had my share of VATS problems with both 89 Vettes. The easiest solution is a plug-in VATS by-pass module. It plugs into the connector currently connected to the two yellow wires coming from the ignition switch under the steering column. You'll need to measure the resistance of you key's pellet using a multimeter or Ohm meter. Do a search on the forum to determine which value your key uses to order the correct by-pass unit by matching the resistance in Ohms.

Simple installation and no wire cutting. Then take your Vette out for a drive.

BTW, all the VATS problems that I've had were either related to the key's pellet not making contact with the ignition switch's resistance readers contacts. Solved one with a new key and the other with a by-pass module. (Didn't want to buy a new ignition switch as the contacts were shot.)

Get your key resistance measured by the dealer service desk. They usually do it free. Go to Ecklers or other Corvette supplier and buy the proper jumper. It will be plug and play under the steering column. It is also easily reversible. This is the most foolproof if you are unsure of your skills.

I had a new key cut hoping it would do the trick but it didn't.
It's a #5.

All I really need is a VATS wireing diagram for the 1990 Vette.

What I have will work just fine. With a little effort and some knowledge
I have a $20.00 fix to share with the group.

So s there anyone out there who can help with out selling me a $150.00 shop manual or selling me an easy way?
I know there is if I can get them to read this thread.

Thanks

Ralph

The FEDS signal at the ECM is Pin 6 a Dark Blue wire,
on the RED ECM connector (B).

This diagram shows the pin out for the other two ECM connectors.

I'll try to get to it after Church tomorrow, if it's not too hot.

Thank you Hooked On Vettes.

This is what I'm talking about. I'll let the group know A.S.A.P.

I sat down last night for about 20 minutes and took a long look at the diagram and the instructions that came with the by-pass chip.

Went out tonight and wired it in.
It was realy pretty simple.Top red wire went to the #1 connector on the Green connector. The plug is green so that is easy to find and the pins are numbered on the back of the plug.

#2 is the signal feed and the top white wire goes to that one.

The 3rd wire is not needed on a 1975 and the bottom red wire goes to ground.
I loosener a bolt by the hood latch and wraped it around it and tightened it down.

There is a small LED light that lights up when it's connected right.

I simply stripped a little wire back wraped the chip's wire around it and soldered it and wrapped it with electricans tape.

Here is what I purchased:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWNX%3AIT

Cost is $14.99 plus $5.00 shipping.

It works like a charm, very simple to install especially with the help from
Hooked on Vettes.

Thanks for the help and I hope this works as good for you as it does for me.

I soldered mine and you should solder yours too.

Let me tell you I'm so glad this turned out good.
Hot August Nights Reno here I come.

I have a 1990 and about to do the same modification. Once I take the bottom dash apart where do I go from there? Still working ok?

You don't , the ECM is in the engine bay on top of the brake booster.
Refer post #8 for connection details
