Default Fuel flow issues

Car has developed a new way to annoy me. Just fixed the steering column + steering wheel replacement, so now it wants to play vapor lock, except an electric fuel pump sitting inside the fuel tank of a a car with a full tank of gas shouldn't be able to vapor lock, but that's the behavior for those of you old enough to remember when it was a regular program event.

All of a sudden 80+ degree ambient, full tank of Chevron 92 oct. and she wont fire after running. This proved a real pain at the track yesterday when my co-driver shut the car off and I had to wait 30 min to get it started again.

Fuel injectors are new, and when the car is started it runs well. No throttle issues at all. Plan to have me mechanic go through the usual, verify fuel pressure, then fuel filter, hope it isnt a fuel pump.

Thoughts, anyone else here go through this?

Common problem, many recent posts on this issue due to hot weather. Depending on how hot your fuel rails get and what your RVP (boiling point) of your fuel is, if you do not retain adequate fuel pressure for 20 minutes or more after turning engine off, your fuel will boil in the rails and vapor lock. This is usually caused by the fuel pump's check valve or the fuel pressure regulator's valve by-passing to much fuel back to the tank. Easy to diagnose with a fuel pressure guage and pinching the return line.
