1986 electrical issues
Normally when you open the door, the courtesy lights turn on. If you turn on the headlights before you turn on the ignition, a little ringing noise comes on warning you the headlights are on without the engine running. Also, the heat/air controls do not work when the key is off. When the key is in the ignition position, the courtesy lights turn off, the headlight warning noise goes off and the heater controls work.
Just the other night I started the car as normal. First thing I noticed is the courtesy lights didn't turn off as they should, The headlight warning indicator stayed on the whole way home and the heater controls do not work at all. I've replaced the ignition switch and that had no effect.
Has anyone ever had an issue like this?

Sure enough, my gauges fuse was blown. I thought since the digital gauges worked that it would be good, but it seems to me I ran a meter across each fuse and it appeared good...don't know how I missed that one. But I'd have never thought to look at that particular fuse. I must be getting old or something.
Thanks Hooked.
