Default excessive oil consuption

Since putting a hot cam, 1.6 rrs, new LT4 springs in my LT1 it is using a bunch of oil, about a quart every 100 mi. There is a puddle of oil on the top of each valve that is closed, how could that much oil be getting on top of the valve? I replaced the valve seals with new fel-pro seals, they all look good. When I took the TB off there was oil around the air foil, quite a bit of oil, it was running down the air foil. Also there was a puddle of oil behind each of the throttle body blades right where they close and meet the TB. Any ideas, I am baffled. Thanks

Do the valve covers still have the stock baffles in place? Sometimes people remove those and the pcv sucks oil into the throttlebody area.

Intake manifold gasket is another possibility.

Do a search, this was covered recently and I dont remember the cause but it was something simple IIRC.

as my memory serves me, the problem there was a porting job which punctured the wall between the inside if the intake runner and the oil side of the crankcase valley....and may be "punctured" is a poor choice of words, but it did result in a couple of VERY small holes, which is all it took.

It might not be your case, but this happened to me.

I sent a set of trick flow Gen 1 heads out to be freshened up because they had been sitting on a shelf for a few years. I put them on the car, and the engine smoked like crazy. The valve seals were the wrong size (too big), and the seals lifted up on 80% of the valves, and oil was running into the cylinders.

It was crazy how much oil it was burning, and the guides were good, according to the machinist.

Something to check anyway.

Thanks for the replies. The stock baffles are still there, I did grind the drip tabs off to clear the rr's. What would I check to see if there is a "bad EGR"? Is that the valve in the back of the intake, if so I removed that and had it programmed out. When I removed the intake the intake gasket was good and tight, no oil around the intake ports at all. As to the valve seals they fit tight over the valve (used the plastic shroud over the top of the valve and they were pretty tight going over the top. As to the valve seal fitting over the boss at the head, that pushed down pretty firmly with a deep well socket. None of them have lifted off the head so I think they are good. ??

yep...I'd say he's got pressure in the crankcase. PCV is d/c or plugged, hose off or kinked. Valve itself stuck. it don;t take much blow-by at all to build pressure in a V8...and with todays sealed up motors...positive crankcase pressure means that its pushing oil out somewhere.. Better investigate 'cause the next stop will be a main seal or pan gasket. Pos pressure will cause it to spit something out somewhere...
