But now that you have done the job it should be much easier if it craps out...
Yea, I'm gonna invent a optifart bag for C4 owners, so I can carry my extra opti in style. Might even pull over and help out a stranded high priced opti owner ......
When my craps out I will not have to pay return shipment and wait, just go down the road and get another for FREE...
i may remove coil to get water pump back on. Is there that much difference between dielectic grease and heat sink paste?
I use high temp synthetic wheel bearing grease on my motorcycle driveshaft gear instead of fancy high buck honda paste and it holds up fine.
They are pretty much the opposite of each other..dielectric grease is an insulator..heat sink paste is a conductor..it conducts the heat from the module away from it to the heat sink..unreal...I really have to wonder what the engineers where thinking when they built this motor..they put a distributor that doesn't like heat and water..behind and under the water pump and near the damper.. then they put the ignition module which doesn't like heat ..right on the head..instead of say..the firewall or the side panel...I'm at a loss..

ok , think I understand a lil better. If I pull coil/ignition module/bracket off by the bracket, to make a lil extra room for coolant pump, then I do not have to deal with that magic goo?

yup..but you may find you need to clean the heatsink up..mine was packed with dirt...

Which reminds me of the famous story of a guy falling from a 50-story building, and as he passed every floor on the way down people inside heard him saying, "So far, so good."
I have seen drive shaft splines completely destroyed (a Suzuki GSX100G parts bike I bought) from indadequate lubrication. 40% moly paste is not that expensive, and is designed for high-pressure applications. High temps have nothing to do with the final drive.
It's your choice, but I can't believe a couple of bucks saved is that important.
