Default LT4 conversion

I'm rounding up the parts to convert my 95 LT1 to a LT4 with heads, intake, and cam.
Does anyone know what timing chain set I should use with the Hotcam?
The stock LT1 or LT4?
Also any head gasket recomendations would be helpful.

Any other tips will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Gordon

Use the LT4 extreem duty chain from GM. It is way more stronger that both stock setups. It fits 95-96 LT1/4 and runs around $200.

your smartest investment for power better cooling and strength and reliability is to go with a meziere electric waterpump.. this allows you to remove the waterpump drive gear from the block and go with a very reasonably priced double roller timing set for about 89 dollars for a 87 up gm roller engine. the cost of the waterpump and double roller is insignificant for the benefits.. i would strongly recommend this route.. if you have any question feel free to shoot me an email i would be happy to tell you exactly what will need to be done.. its very simple!

for gaskets, if you ar eplanning to have it tuned.. i would go with the impala head gasket from GM.. i used this on my car along with some milling of the stock heads to bring the compression ratio up some.. if you tune for it there is some horsepower to be had in there.. the compresed thickness for a felpro is .039" and the compressed thickness of a gm impala gasket is .026" i believe its been a while but this seems to ring a bell.. with the hot cam you will not have piston to valve clearance issues with this thickness..

best regards,
chris
