One end goes to the intake. From the check valve, it goes in through the firewall for the HVAC and there should be a line to the cruise control.

you say the one with the tool bit in it goes to a line to the HVAC

somewhere? where at the firewall?

There is a plastic vac that runs inside the car line as part of the main harness on firewall.
Common for that line to beak off flush with harness so you have to dismantle the harness to get it out for reconnection

There is a black plastic line wrapped with a bundle of wires that goes through the firewall into the hvac stuff (I think, it's been a few years). Your heater and air probably don't work real well without vacuum to the controls.

Look in this picture you can kinda make out the plastic line on the right. This connector is high on the firewall right of center.

You are also missing the one way valve where the vac line from intake splits to the HVAC and cruise lines
I am getting confused

any picture of the one way valve?

I agree with Leesvet. You still have the one-way valve. I see it in the first pic (on the backside of the vacuum elbow.

There is a bundle that runs behind the engine on the firewall. If the builders didn't move it, you should see it RIGHT behind the distributor on the firewall. Since we both have 89's, your HVAC vacuum line in the main harness should be placed exacly as mine.....

In case you're curious, that "ho" is holding up my hood. And, you know....not everyone pays for a "ho" to hold up the hood! LOL

you are a poet

the line I see in your picture has a rubber elbow, I suppose since my check valve has an elbow, the "bridge" should be a straight run just a few inches long right?

That's the rubber elbow filled with a torx bit on your car. You are looking for a broken vacuum line WITHOUT the elbow still on it.

Either your vacuum line broke or the line was a pulled out of the elbow.

I hope you find the vacuum line you need. If not, I'd hate to see you get pissed off and pee'd.

don't say broken, it could just be detached right?

we'll the reference to the hoe, was poetic, you nailed it for me, now I am looking for a skinny, little, black plastic line, in a cramped, dark, area behind the unreachable spot behind the distributor firewall...

which I again thank everyone here at the forum...

That's right, Slick! Get back there and find that skinny black hoe! cough...cough....hose!

Yes, the one that could have slipped out or broke. Those lines can get kinda brittle from the heat. Turds that put the torx in there were pretty lazy. Kinda makes me wonder what HVAC control problems you've had since the 383.

That vacuum probably controls the mechanical doors that vent from floor, to dash, to defroster .....IIRC.

no the turd is the new mechanic, cause he could not figure or remember where everything went. and when I called him on stuff he would say it's all a puzzle and he is great with puzzles... freaking lame moron

IIRC, Ron said you PRIDED yourself in getting the deal...the cheapest possible deal. Said it was part of the game -- making it as much fun as anything to accomplish.

I have to think that's why this keeps happening to you. You get what you pay for.... Sorry if I'm wrong.

they are walking distance from me, that was a consideration, the owner is a 25 year reserve police officer in my city, they had a good quote, which as a consideration, but not the only one.

my other shop who did the first engine install, still shoved a baseball bat up my behind, just as bad on other things...

at the end of the day, no shop is a good shop, I just got screw differently, they all sodomize me...
so you are not wrong, I am guilty of looking for a good deal, I still have not received a bill from them, I suppose they could jack up the price, I am bending over just in case...

Well, I guess you should get a discount for helping them figure out how to hook everything back up! LOL

Guess you don't have an FSM to give them too? I got mine before my install. Came in REALLY useful....several times.

My PO freakin would not give it to me(FSM) cause he thought I stole his Vette and as my usual penny wise pound foolishness, just stayed with the Haynes he did surrender....

and no the moron, is one of those people who never admit they are wrong, and the stuff i did to help them put it back together was never acknowledge or was soon forgotten without even a thank you, once out of their mouths...

some people are just not people... they just take up space and when you interact with them , afterwards you need to take a shower and regret that you have lost a portion of your life in exponential relative to the moment spend dealing with them, they have no value nor can they contribute to anyone's goal of self improvement.

as a side note my first shop was very very pricy, so just because one pays dearly does not means he is free from the non-lubricated baseball bat
