I snapped off the end of my coolant temperature sensor while doing some work on my 92. My question is when I install the new one should I put some thread sealer on it or just screw it in as is?
If it is a single wire type it gets ground through the threads. Do not block all the threads with tape or sealer. Usually they come new with compound on already. If you have a leak problem it is okay to put something on the last part of the threads just not blocking them all.
I snapped mine off too doing a water pump replacement last week I just had the two metal spades sticking out with the female end of the weather pack connector gone into oblivion. I reused my sensor from the bad pump and put a little hi temp silicone half way up the threads just to make me feel better.
I would think the water itself makes a good ground in and of itself, never mind the threads. lol

Coolant actually has a voltage. You can ohm it for testing. Not sure how that plays into it working as a ground.
