ok guys just went to start car sat all night, wont start there goes the heat theory, battery strong, no sound from starter now what? is it possible the computer is bad? eandmy

car won't start after parking
car 1990 l98 vet car runs great go on ride stop and park back in car wont start temp normal not hot, no sound to starter, after about a 1/2 hour starts up what could be the problem? help eandmy

Might be VATS. You do diagnosis when the problem occurs. Measure the voltage on the clutch safety switch (gear selector sw at base of gear shift if automatic) and see if there is 12v in crank position. Unplug and jump the clutch safety sw with at least a #14 wire and measure the voltage on the jumper and see if it will crank. If no 12v and the clutch sw is ok, then remove the panel above the drivers feet and find the two wires from above the steering column and unplug them. Insert key and measure the resistance across the wires, it should measure the same as the key pellet. More than 4% error and VATS won't allow a crank. Wipe the pellet with electrical contact cleaner and spray a short pulse of cleaner into the key lock and try a crank. If no crank, connect a resistor the same value as your pellet across the 2 socket pins from the wiring harness (simulates key in ign) and try a crank. If it cranks, you have a worn ign lock and a new lock will have new contacts in it that make connection to the pellet. Let us know what you find as diagnosis may need to go further.

i appreciate the fix but if it was elect.problem does it heal itself in a half hour all the wires are secure battery is strong this is a mind boggler eandmy

We definately need to know if it's VATS or not. It is generally going to be that or a safety switch. There are 2 safety switches. One on the shifter and one behind the brake pedal.
