I need to do a road trip and buy you a beer. I could talk to you and probably enjoy it. Of course I remember Gale Banks. He was IT back in the day. He used to drive Studebakers earlier ....right?Mr. Norms Grand Spaulding Dodge, Big Daddy the Swamp Rat, Bob Glidden, the Snake and that chick Shirley Shahan. Yep, I was there and remember it well. Wow....just wow. That was how long ago and I'm still living. Oh, BTW, I almost forgot my favorite. The Rat Fink and all the cool rods drawn by Ed "Big Daddy" Roth.
Where did you say you live? Heck, I need a tranny built anyways. May as well come out there and let you do it.
Talk about a trip down memory lane.I am overdue for a roadtrip myself.
If the Corvette Museum coordinator there in Kentucky gives me the go ahead, I will be down in Kentucky right by you soon enough.
He has a 1994 4L60E trans that needs help- a stock rebuild with a decent shift kit installed & Beast Sun Gear shell for extra insurance.
When I am done,
You both can buy me a Beer or 2 & show me around.
I am younger than you are at 41.
I do remember Gale Banks & the 300 + MPH salt flat T/A car.
I was working at an Auto Parts shop with a bicycle shop attached owned by the same guy.
His son "Stu' hired me to fix bikes in 1983 at 14 years old.
He brought in posters of the Sundowner Corvette & the Banks Turbo T/A salt flats racer.
They hung on shop walls till 1987 Displayed proudly.
Stu corrupted all of us young me with beer on the weekends too.
2 half barrels bought every Friday & Saturday night at his house.
Play poker, "Euker", Sink the Bismark, and countless other drinking games.
LOL
Old magazines & photos of the racing legends along with everyday hotrodders with their stories to share today.............
They are priceless.
You guys were there,
Been there & done that.
Every generation has accomplishments & technology used that should not ever be forgotten or dismissed as " IT Just won't Work Today Because..............
Yeah right I say.
They can be near impossible to dial in for true racing performance use.
The best way to make them run is to stagger jet them.
Its alot of trial & error.
Old auto books written for auto mechanic students from the early 1970's explain in detail how a tri-power intake manifold distributes air & fuel exact.
Does not distribute fuel like you would 1st assume.
Once you understand fully,
dialing in tri-power triple deuce becomes easier.
I have done on my 1965 GTO Tripower setup in the past.
Took 2 weeks every night hand drilling jets and experimentation & road testing to get it to perform like EFI with no bogs anywhere under any loads & driving speeds.
Ended up with 6 different sized - custom drilled Carb main jets.
They do sound very cool a Tri- power when floored & engine racing away at 6K rpms.
But they suck with bogs in the power band till you work all the Bugs out.
Not for a beginner with carbs trying to dial a Tri- power in for max performance use.

Seems like a LOT of carb, for a stock 350.
If you have gone wild on the engine, then have at it
But like mentioned above, dual 4bbls are hard to syncronize and need to be done often for a street driven car. There is a reason you rarely saw old muscle cars w/6 packs and dual 4's. I had a 240 with dual webers and it was a bitch, had to sync the carbs every 10-15k miles and it is not an easy task, if you do not know what your doing.
But, once you get it down, you will almost be able to tune by ear.
