Couple more 85 questions
What is the deal with the blinking "Security" on the dash? How do you work the VATS?
My radio is VERY quiet. The tape deck doesn't work, it just keeps reversing the direction of the tape a few times then ejects it, so I don't know if the volume is improved when I use a tape. The sound isn't distored in any way, it is just very quiet. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
EDIT:
Might as well add in a few more questions while I am at it :)
My driver side window is about half the speed as my passenger side window. Could something be rubbing on the window and is slowing it down?
On the 4 way power drivers seat switch, nothing happens when I push it towards the front of the car, is this normal or is something not working?
How difficult is it to pull the dash apart? I want to check in there for mice and mice nests, The car had been in storage for a couple of years and had gotten some mice in it. There was very little in the way of damage (just a few tooth marks) but you can smell that there were mice in it. Even though the dealer said it was cleaned I want to check for myself. It isn't too bad but am going to let it air out for the next couple of weeks since it still isn't that warm out. We even had a bit of snow today ;)

From my experiance... if both doors are closed, the interior lights go out, and your security light continues to blink then your Theft Deterrant Module is toast. Been there... got a used one and a spare from a boneyard for $20. Ecklers, I think, sells them but they are expensive. FYI, 85's do not have VATS... easily characterized by the little resistor pellet on the key. To my knowledge VATS didn't come to Corvette land until 86.
Stock system? Sorry, can't help you there... I never had one to start with :D...
Windows... yes, you could have binding. You can also have a motor on its way out. My passanger window takes more than twice as long to roll down... and I have had it apart several times to check for binding. Oh, and one more thing. GM really liked to screw with early C4 owners. There was about 2 years or so where they were using the old ribbon style AND the new scissor style (faster) window regulators. There are several members that I have conversed with that have the new regulators in one door and the old style in the other door  Go figure... guess they were using up old stock and had more of one than the other.
Dash board is easy to remove... 2 screws on either side of the windshield defrost duct and 4 screws along the edge underneath the dashboard along the edge where it sits on the dash skeleton... assuming they are all still there. Mice can be VERY destructive... and it may not be evident at first. Them little vermon like the insulation on wires... let alone making nests, whizzing on the carpet, and leaving little tiny gifts laying around...
Good luck and let us know what you find... or better yet... maybe not  :D

Happened to me once and turned out to be a dirty contact in the switch. Sprayed it with some contact cleaner and it worked. good luck
