Unfortunately have been unemployed for a while now, and am trying to get an idea of how much would it cost to purchase a new clutch and have it installed. Any ideas woud help. Thanks folks!
About a year ago, I bought a Spec Stage 2 clutch kit, and Spec heavyweight billet steel SMF for my '94 LT1 car, for just under $800. I don't know if their prices have changed. I did the installation myself, so I can't tell you what the labor cost would be.

What year is your car and what tranny does it have? Clutch kit will usually run you around 600ish. You can get a new flywheel which will run around 200ish or get yours resurfaced depending on condition for more than half that.

Just had it done, paid $700 for SPEC Stage 1 clutch and extra mass steel FW and a little over $500 for install. Need to make sure to have either FW, whether you stay with your old one or a neww one, milled to ensure it flat and smooth. I didn't and now have to deal with some chatter at take off.

Between 1200 and 1500
If you have a ZF6 remember if the dual mass flywheel has over 100k its getting to the point where it will need replacement. Only replacements are single mass - from one that weighs the same as the DM to one that is really light. Lighter = more noise at idle, clutch out and in neutral.

Thanks, it is the ZF6 , but I have no where near 100k. I just broke 60k. But thanks for the info.
60k and you need a new clutch? maybe all you need is a clutch disc. Take that sucka apart; lay a straight edge across the flywheel surface and across the pressure plate surface; if they haven't been warped or torn up; use a disc sander and bust the glaze. Get a new disc...I recommend a full face metallic type; yeah I know they have a bad rap because they're "grabby" but a metallic disc will out last any other disc by a huge margin...this I know. Reassemble and you're back on the road for a minimum investment....and yes I know you can spend a ton of money on a complete clutch job...and I'm not saying you shouldn't, but if money's (or lack of it) is the main issue this might be worth trying.

Make sure they use the factory service manual and check the dual mass for excessive play. If it exceeds specification you will need to replace it. With 60K its probably good, but to avoid a mess and a second clutch job have it checked.

My 89 only had 40K and the DM loosened up and started making a knocking sound!
