At wits end. 89 c4 would not start after short drive. After 1 hour of sitting started but ran very rough. After overnight sit, cranked ran fantastic.
Hi
I had exact same problem with my 91, turned out to be FPR diaphragm only, was leaking a little bit and I replaced it with auto zone part#
800-122 and problem was fixed!!
might be a fuel problem, but we're just second guessing here. connect a pressure gauge to the fuel rail, run a test, and start with the basics.
I would say do some thing easier than that first, simply pull the vacum hose from the FPR , have some one turn the key on u will hear the fuel pump running for 2 sec, have him turn it off and on again after like 10 sec sonu can hear it again while u r watching the little pipe on the FPR, if u see fuel coming out of it, it's bad then and needs to be replaced , If not then put the hose back and get a gauge to check ur fuel pressure, and see how long it holds after turning off the car, but I'm 99% sure u will see fuel though!!! I hope this help

My 89 started doing the same thing this month would crank but not started, check the fuel pump first then check the injectors with a multimeter because I never change the injectors from when I purchased it new and two injectors were bad, one was at .001 ohms and the other one was at .014 ohms(which was marginal) the rest was at .016 ohms which was good, but I replace all of them with a new set of bosch injectors and she's been running fine ever since with great response an better fuel mileage. Good luck
