Default Diamond FTW

I need to order some pistons for a build that I'm currently working on and the block is "0" decked. The heads have 52cc chambers and I want the compression around 11.0 to 1. The most often used compression height is 1.125 si I called Diamond pistons. They told me that it was no problem to do a custom "D" dished piston with a CD of 1.115 and get the piston in the hole .010.For all this extra work they are charging $4.62 per piston. That's awfully cheap for custom.

They also said that the oil rings are in the pin boss area and I don't want that either. No problem said the Diamond guy. They will custom cut the piston ring grooves for .043/.043 and 3mm rings. The charge for this was also $4.62 per piston and all rings will be in the area above the pin.

You can make any change you want to their basic forging blank for less that 5 bucks per piston and I think that is great. Just a little FYI for any of you guys that didn't know this. I didn't because I use a lot of Mahle pistons and they don't make changes unless you've got lots of money.

It seems like those folks make a good product and are very helpful from the customer service standpoint.

Thats good info to have !

Cheap deal too for getting what you want. I think everybody here thats ever built an engine has had to "settle" for something that wasn't exactly what they wanted, but was close 'nuff.
Being able to buy exactly what you want makes building more enjoyable...
