The c4 is the better car if you know how to mod it correctly.

I imagine a caged lsx c4 would run circles around all your c5/6 z cars.
I'll take that bet... one of my C5's is even a vert on 20's...

My C4 is nice..But i bought a running /driving Nice C4, 1995, 6sp car just to tear it apart and put a LSx in it, not because i think its a better overall car, but because if i tear up a C4, i just throw it away and buy another one...there are really that cheap.

Body kit too. C4 needs a body kit to compete with c6 in road course racing.

2 things that'd be tough to retrofit would be active handling (still possible) and hud

whered you come up with the idea that a c4 needs a body kit to keep up with a c6? too much fast and the furious?

and what part of HUD is gonna make the c4 any quicker?

not being disrespectful, just wondering where you got those ideas?

no, i know you arent meaning disrespect.

body kits arent for looks.

Im talking greenwood-based functional performance parts with front air dam splitter, back spare wheel cover 'tunnel', windshield header pieces. etc.

The goal is to keep as much air underneath the car moving faster vs. over top of the car for downforce.

I heard once someone (drm? correct me if Im wrong) talking about a 15 MPH top end improvement on a c4 when one of these was installed.

Aerodynamics is a place where c6 has us beat.

C5 aerodynamics have us beat too, but there are some bugs in them where they get squirrely > 200 MPH from reduced downforce (yes, the c4 is better handling > 200 MPH vs. C5). Of course, Im not speaking from experience but can just tell you what ive read.

yes, he's right.

At the c4's current pricepoint youd be a fool to buy a c5/6 z car to turn it into a dedicated racecar.

The c4 will compete at reduced overall cost.

Crash it, you buy another one. Great design cars, especially great value nowdays.

Since the day they rolled off the factory assembly line. You answered your own question the moment you started talking about modifying a C4 to keep pace with a stock C5/C6 variant. The C4 is 80s technology, it's my favorite generation but you can't compare its spaghetti noodle frame rigidity to the modern day structural superiority of current Corvettes. Today's engines are in a completely different league, they can't be touched: less weight, more compact, and much more powerful.

This is what Corvettes do, they get faster. It's possible but that's a whole lot of dough to cough up to prove a point that you can be faster around a track with a C4 than a Z06/ZR1.

I don't think a running/driving nice C5 vette is that expensive to buy.You can pick up a nice one cheaper than what some people get for a C4.
