This engine is doing it again. I run a 1990 block, bored and stroked to 383 c.i. Superram intake, and AFR heads. With a Vortech T-trim blower at 11.5 pounds of boost in my hillclimb car. For some reason I can't keep a gasket in it. Oil keeps blowing out of the back of the block. The engine has an electric vacumn pump on both valve covers, and a catch can on the dipstick tube. Thought it was the intake gasket, no. Thought it was the oil temp sending unit, no. There's only about an inch of room to the firewall on a 1986 coupe. Please tell me, what else can I do? This is driving me nuts. Thanks, Joe
Im running a very similar setup with a strim.
Fought oilleaks from rear of block/intake for years. Found out
That the sealing surface between the edelebrock Base and
The block is very narrow close to the oil pressure sensor. Had
To weld on more material to the intake, followed the instructions
From blowerworks website "sealing the china wall", also used Right Stuff.
No leaks now!
The oil is coming from the back of the intake manifold and running down the block. This happened two years ago with the oil getting on to the headers and catching fire. As I crossed the finish line I just happened to look over at the passenger side floor and seen the flames. Stopped at the turnaround and put it out with water. I had not raced the car since (for other reasons) but had thought I fixed the oil problem. I have been starting the car every month since but have not driven it. No oil leaking. When I took it out for a ride the other day, it started to leak. The Blowerworks web site has a great article on sealing the intake ends (China Walls) and my hats of to Bogor for turning me on to it.
