100%. You've hit the nail on the head. There is psychology that handling has gotten better with each successive generation. That is b/c that's how "cars" have been, since their inception in the late 1800's. I believe though, that that trend ended in 1983, with the '84 Z51 Corvette. Handling (performance limits) haven't change much, if at all, since then. What has changed is comfort/"refinement", combined with a similar level of performance. But actual handling limits? I'd put a C4 up against a C5/6 anyday of the week, assuming similar tires. The "rock" has not moved much since 1984, in that catagory.

Nice to see the OP having a helluva good time w/his car!!

That was awsome. Those porsches looked like they were standing still. What kind of rear gears are you running? If that was a pretty much stock L98 I would like to see a worked over L98.

What kind of speeds were you doing in the corners and on the straights? Good thing you know the track from the video it looked to have a few blind hills and tricky corners. Have you seen a few cars running out into the grass on the corners?

Great job

Let's see, speeds range from about 35-40 mph at the slowest point in one of the hairpins, to 117 or so at the end of the longest straight, before braking for about a 70-75 mph corner. The fastest corner is probably the long right handed sweeper called "High Plains Drifter" on this track map I don't know how well it comes through on the video, but the thing I don't think you really get a feel for is the 75 feet of elevation change. It makes the track an absolute blast to drive.

That is a corner of about 70-75 mph constant and then about 85 on exit before braking hard for the hairpin.

The place most people go off is turn 13, as it is a blind corner on a rise and you are turning at the crest of the hill making the rear end very light. Usually we see about 5-7 off track excursions on any given day - most with very little damage due to the generous run-offs.

I am running stock 3.45 gears. The 3.73's would actually be a detriment on this track as it would require me to be in totally different gearing in the corners and not give me the kick coming out. Besides, the difference between the 3.73's and the 3.45's is approx. 0.1 seconds from 40 to 100mph, and 4.10's are approx. 0.3 seconds faster - not even close to worth sacrificing my 29 mpg at 85 mph for

The mods make this more akin to an LT-1 power output than an L98 - think 75% of the way to an LT1 as far as power goes. Of course all that is down by 18% due to altitude, but then again so is everybody else, except for the turbo guys They don't lose quite as much.
