I am ordering the Flowmaster Cat-back system. I found it at Summit for 540$ compared to 800$ at other places like Eckler's. What do you guys think about the system? How does it sound? What's installation like?
I have the TPIS custom FlowMaster cat-back ($600) with 3 1/2" into dual 3" pipes into the mufflers. It took a good exhaust shop to fit it in properly but the result is awsome with custom front Y and hi-flow cat.
BTW, I have a set of MAD SS slant-cut round tips that I ran on the stock exhaust for 3-4mo, till I had the Flows installed. Let me know if interested.
Just installed the Flowmaster catback system on my ZR1. Installation took less than an hour on my buddies hoist and everything lined up perfectly. Quite at idle, smooth and deep up 4000 rpm and wild sounding from 4000 rpm to 7000 rpm. I believe the mufflers in the kit were Force II's. Overall impression good system, quite when you want them to be and aggressive sounding when you reef on it. Good luck
I still think they are way overpriced. I ordered and installed myself the FM FORCE II system. As far as installation, it was very easy. Everything fit great.
I am the only forum member, however, that thinks they sound tame :(
I keep saying that the Flows are one of the more restrictive mufflers. There are chambers and twists and turns in there. Why not consider a straight thru design muffler?
When I bought Grand Sport #598 last year, the first thing I ordered was the flowmaster cat-back from Summit Racing. I painted the mufflers and tips with high temp flat black. I like the sound, thats what I bought it for. I am not crazy about the tips. The shape and design is not bad, but the thin metal look seems to miss something. I get a "crust" at the edge that I find distracting. Would I buy them again? Yes. Summit Racing, good folks, good products, good prices.
i have them on mine, but i had the resonator removed. sounds really nice with the high flow cats ;) , but some passengers say it is too load. i like it. sounds like a nascar at WOT. with the resonator it still sounded good but i wanted it a little louder.
Just today on a 350ml round trip drive my Y pipe broke. One muffler rode shot gun for over half the trip. Needless to say I'm in the market. You mention the Flow Master Force II system as a straight through design. I just looked it up at Summit "The Force II system comes with a three chamber muffler(s)" "$356.95" Is this what you mean? It does have a good $. With the Y pipe alone running $140 at Eckler's and my mufflers looking like they do I'm considering these.
Anybody else see the need for cat-backs? I do plan to chip my car in the future.

NO! The FM's are NOT straight thrus. Those would be like Magnaflows or Corsa's.
Love my flowmasters!! I love the gurgly rumble bumble at idle and low cruise. Get up over 3k and she hollers with authority. :D In fact i just purchased their rear y-pipe since my stock one has a few small holes in it. It is going on along with everything else right now. So the final exhaust setup will be....
Hooker 2149 Headers
Hooker 16720 Front Y-Pipe
Stock Cat (For about 1 week, then straight pipe I think)
Flowmaster Rear Y-Pipe
Flowmaster Mufflers (Not sure which series)
