Hope you guys can help me...I noticed that if I am coming to a stop and have the gear selector in regular drive...at about 12 MPH I can hear the transmission downshift to first with a faint thud...if I have it in OD it is absolutely silent when it shifts down...I have never noticed it until the other day when I was driving around town in D drive...Is something wrong with my tranny? I appreciate any info on this...thanks guys~
Has it ever been re-built? It could be the governor. Mine had a hard clunk due to a sticky governor(It free revved also a few times in first when I hit the gas). It now up-downshifts crisply and firm due to the governor NOT sticking.
Try a fluid and filter change....pop the governor off when you're in there and be sure it's not sticking. Hope all goes well for you.
There was a Service Bulletin from GM about that. A repair was offered under warranty. I don't remember the exact years but I do know that it covered the '90 as that is what I drive too.
The turquoise cars are beautiful aren't they? I have a hard top on mine and IMHO it looks the way they should have built them.
