There is a calibration pot in the circuit board of your current 6000 rpm tachometer, but I doubt it has the adjustment range to increase the full scale to 8000 rpm. You can install a fixed resistor in series with the pot depending on the calibration schematic to increase the full scale rpm, but then you will also have to change the scale on the meter face to read to 8000. If the tach is digital readout you won't have a meter face to change. Usually it is difficult to obtain a schematic of a tach which is what you need to decide how to increase its full scale rpm.
Lingenfelter used to convert your tach, but I don't know if they still do or not. I am using one out of an LT4 in my 95, but as mentioned above, you could try to find one from a ZR1.
