ecm check . plez . help ! 92, 93
can i send my ecm to someone to have them check to see if mines good ??? i v tried everything and i bought a used ecm .. so i dont no if i bought a bad 1 or not .tired of throwin $ at .

So are you saying you have two ECMs for your car. One with the original PROM and one with an unknow PROM?
Contact one of the rebuilders (do a search or check over at the guru) and see what they will cahrge to rebuild it. Send one to them, get it rebuilt, put your original PROM in, drive it.
If it lasts a few months send your second one out to be rebuilt and set it on a shelf, you may need it later.

if i was u i would go for the disabling vats in the chip. if you already done all the other. thats what my next try will b if my ecm comes back and i still have the same issue. My ecm should be back this week sometime

We were discussing this issue on another thread but I may as well jump in here.I had an intermittent no start problem due to no injector pulse on my '87.Sometimes would start,sometimes not. Had the ECM rebuilt by Delphi,same issue. Put in new ignition module,no change.Key pellet and starter enable relay both bypassed years ago so that just left the remaining VATS to possibly be the culprit.It signals the ecm to pulse the injectors. Anyway,got the delete chip from PCMforless for$100 and threw it in and so far no more problems after a week of running. If you try this call them first because with some chips if ,you send it to them,they can delete vats for $50. On my lingenfelter chip they couldn't so I had to go the piggyback route.No matter,the damn thing works again.

Time to step back and think it through. Do you have a factory service manual - its the only book that will help you troubleshoot the issue.
If the injectors are not firing then they are either being told to fire and can't because they have no power. Or they are not being told to fire.
the first is easy to check, open the fuse panel on the passenger side and look for INJ1 & INJ 2 fuses, IIRC one is 30amp, the other is 20. Just replace them - its what $.050? Then use a voltmeter to check the wires at the injector, the FSM has the voltage that should be there.
Continue the troubleshooting tree in the book.
Meanwhile I would send an ECM off to a reputable rebuilder.
FYI- the 92/93 is the readheaded step child of dark haired parents
First year opti, and opti harness. If you notice the connector on the passenger side is a huge square connector. later years it got smaller and the shielding was removed.

well got my ecm back today and installed it still no start but, now i got a dtc 36, i wasnt getting it before i sent it off. After checking out my connections i didnt get the opti plug back in all the way, after got that back in got spark again but still no injector pulse , think im going to order my vats delete chip tommorrow

what i am talking about is when you but jumper wire in to access your obd, after it is done displaying codes, push your trip/od button till it displays 1.3, then when 1.3 is displayed push your eng/met button then it will display 01 and eighter 1, wich is enabled, or 0 ,which is disabled
