Hi, I am new to corvettes and picked up a 1992 LT1 with 150K and 18K on a rebuild motor. The car sat for 10 years with maybe as much as 40 miles put on it over that time frame. After changing the fluids including the gas the engine had started ticking on the driver’s side mid-way down the lifters and I am getting a very mild back fire after hitting the gas on a cold engine only on the driver’s side. Since I have gotten it there are also all new plugs, air filter and PCV.
Any thoughts on what it could be or is it something that is going to just work its self out? Plug wires and O2 sensor are next on the list to change.
well put the old fluids back in there, just kidding, an old fix used to be to add some mystery oil to the crankcase and run it for bout 1/2 hour, sometimes that would free things up.
The tick is after the car warms up just a little and there is no smell of exhaust under the hood.
Being the car was not driven for 10 years I have little things that I notice and then they are gone very fast. This one has hung around for about two weeks now.
