85 transmission question
The automatic transmission on my 85 is shifting very early. Going easy it is in 3 by 20mph and in overdrive at 40mph. I've tried adjusting the TV cable (pressing D pushing back toward firewall, letting go of D and pushing throttle all the way forward) and this doesn't change anything. Any ideas or suggestions:?

Quick shifts
My 85 shifts in exactly the same manner under light acceleration. Stretches out and shifts fine under moderate acceleration, but I would like to know as well if an adjustment could be made to ease the quick shifts. Maybe it is just the nature of the beast.

If the cable is adjusted properly and you want later shifts, you'll need to play with the springs and weights in the governer. Changing to a heavier spring will raise wide throttle shift rpm. Changing to lighter weights will raise full throttle shift rpm.

Your trans is shifting correctly.
My 87 shifts the exact same way unless you 'get on it' a little bit.
Then the shift points 'stretch' out more.
It should still 'kick' a bit from 1st to second though.
