The air conditioner pulley on my 85 is making a high pitched squeal. the noise seems to coming from the front of the pulley. The belt is new and the air conditioning works. Any ideas or suggestions.
You can try some of this stuff. I used it on my Bonneville SSEI when I got a new belt and it worked great. You might also have an A/C compressor going bad. Does it happen on the time or just when it is on or off?
If it only happens when it is on, then it might be starting to cease and is rubbing the belt. If it happens only when it is off, then the A/C clutch may be doing something weird. If all the time, then the bearings or something along those lines might be going bad inside. Your probably going to have to get it rebuilt either way.
My 87 had that problem and wd-40 about once a year "a little shot directly on the front/center of pulley while running" has worked for me as well.. everything still functions fine and have been doing that on the same vette since 1997.
